As you may be aware Anthony has handed over the Vice-President reins this year to myself and I have stepped away from the Secretarial role.
I trust (hope) many (most) of you will be returning to the BUGS for the 2020 season and given you are my only point of contact until all registrations, managers and coaches have been allocated for 2020 I would ask if you could forward this to all your team in anticipation for I hope will be another great year.
Early-bird registration is currently open for a discounted registration fee ($355 from memory). Ends on 31 January reverting to a full fee of $395 pp. after 31 January. Get in now and save some $$! Thankfully re-registration is very quick and easy via the RUGBY Xplorer app.
A registration evening will held on Friday Feb 7 (from 5pm). Whilst I encourage you all to re-register via the RUGBY Xplorer app, I will be at the club on Feb 7 to assist with any issues / questions etc.
Following the registration period (i.e. towards the end of Feb), teams will be allocated with younger age teams (U6s to U11s) largely remaining the same (unless a need for change) and U12s up being graded and assessed on ability. Where teams are merged or a new team is formed we will work closely with parents and players to find a satisfactory outcome.
IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Coaches / Mangers – Could I ask if you are willing and able to coach or manage a team this year that you let me know ASAP. Also if you have any mid-week training sessions planned that you also let me know so I am both aware of who is training when and can manage field space etc.
Early March – I will plan a managers / coaches information session similar to last season.
All managers and coaches will require a BLUECARD (https://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/applications/applications.html). This is no charge and if you fill out the form I (or anyone on the Committee) can sign on registration night or at the information session etc.
Managers and Coaches will also need to be current in their SMARTRUGBY qualifications. I can cover more on this at the information session and typically only requires an hour or so of your time to familiarise yourself with the requirements of your role and a brief assessment, all done online.
Friday training (Club open) will likely begin sometime in mid to late February. Dates to be confirmed.
Mid-week training can begin any time for the older age groups. Just let me know when you plan to train.
At this stage the BJRU fixture has junior teams (U6 to U9) starting on 2 May.
All other teams (U10s and up) start on May 3 initially with development rounds and then season proper.
We will endeavour to organise one or two practice games against other clubs in March / April, yet to be confirmed.

Over the coming weeks you will begin to receive further information regarding registration, training, fixtures etc. Please also monitor Facebook and/or the website for important updates to dates etc.
Please do hesitate to contact me (email or phone) should you have any questions or concerns in relation to the above or anything Junior BUGs related.
